We facilitated the swift sale of Volver de la Vigne, a 2009-born Selle Français gelding, reuniting him with his former rider Antonio Matos Almeida in Portugal. This opportunity came just one week after we learned he was available for purchase. Recognizing the horse's unique history and the bond he shared with Antonio, we acted immediately, contacting his former rider to orchestrate the transition seamlessly.
Volver de la Vigne is by Diamant de Semilly out of Nymphe de la Vallée (by Cumano), a powerful cross of two of the most influential sires in show jumping. Bred by Lucien Villotte in Normandy, Volver quickly stood out for his athleticism and powerful jump, ultimately reaching the elite 1.60m level.
He rose to prominence under Antonio Matos Almeida during the 2019 European Championships in Rotterdam, delivering double clear rounds in the Nations Cup and finishing 11th individually. Following that success, Volver was acquired by Ludger Beerbaum’s prestigious stable, where he continued to compete internationally.
Volver’s accomplishments include:
11th Place (Individual) – 2019 European Championships, Rotterdam
Double Clear – Nations Cup, Rotterdam 2019 (with Almeida)
1.60m Grand Prix Competitor – With Kamal A. Bahamdan
Consistent 1.40–1.60m performances with riders including Samuel Hutton and Bader Alfard
His experience and composure at the top level made him a sought-after partner for professionals aiming for high-stakes competition.
After discovering that Volver had become available, we immediately contacted Antonio Matos Almeida, who had shared a particularly successful and emotional journey with the horse. The timing aligned perfectly—Antonio was ready to bring Volver back home and resume their journey together.
Because of the pre-existing relationship and Volver’s proven compatibility with Antonio, the sale moved quickly. There was no need for lengthy trials or negotiation—trust and history made it a seamless transaction.
In just one week, we coordinated a high-level international sale that was as emotional as it was efficient. Volver has now returned to Portugal, where he will continue his competitive career under Antonio Matos Almeida.
This case not only showcases the power of timing and long-standing relationships in the horse world, but also underscores the importance of knowing when to move quickly. We are thrilled to have played a part in reuniting this talented horse with the rider who brought out his best.
