Diva de Talma, a remarkable chestnut mare sired by Kannan and out of a Quick Star mare, has exemplified the success of using Bridl to connect high-caliber horses with competitive riders. This case study delves into Diva de Talma's journey from her sale through Bridl to her current achievements in the show-jumping arena, highlighting the effectiveness of Bridl in facilitating seamless and successful equine transactions.
Diana Piera sought to find a suitable buyer for Diva de Talma who could unlock her competitive potential. She needed a reliable platform to ensure a transparent and efficient transaction, matching the mare with a rider who could bring out her best.
Diva de Talma was initially under the ownership of Spanish rider Diana Piera, who trained with Olympic rider Pedro Veniss. Recognizing Diva’s immense potential, Piera entrusted the sale of her 9-year-old mare to Bridl, a platform renowned for its transparency and efficiency in the equine market. The sale was executed flawlessly, with Catherine Brentzel, a young rider based in Wellington, USA, traveling to the Sunshine Tour to test Diva. The successful trial confirmed Diva de Talma as a perfect fit for Brentzel’s competitive ambitions, and the mare was soon relocated to the United States.
"It has been a pleasure to form part of this operation and we are very happy to have created what we believe will be a great partnership for the future between Catherine and Diva. We look forward to seeing them achieve excellent results together." – Marie Marks from Bridl
Upon arriving in the USA, Diva de Talma quickly adapted to her new environment. Catherine Brentzel, who has been riding with Uma O’Neill since the summer of 2023, found an excellent partner in Diva. The mare’s fiery spirit and unmatched footspeed perfectly complement Brentzel’s riding style. "Diva is a speed demon and when I fight with her I never get the results I want because she knows what she needs to do and I just need to listen to her," Brentzel explained, highlighting the synergy between them.
Diva de Talma’s competitive journey in the USA began with notable performances at the CSI3* level, where her agility and speed quickly made her a standout. The pinnacle of her recent achievements came during the Desert Circuit 4, presented by Whittier Trust, where Brentzel and Diva de Talma dominated the $10,000 IDA Development 1.35m Welcome Speed class. This victory was a testament to the mare’s exceptional footspeed and Brentzel’s ability to harness Diva’s competitive edge. "She’s incredible. The footspeed is unmatched and any speed class I enter with her if I do my job I know that she’ll get it done for me as well," Brentzel said.
Brentzel credits much of their success to the training and advice from Uma O’Neill. "One piece of advice I took going into the ring today, especially because it’s a speed class, was to relax and let go with my body and my hands and let Diva do her job," she shared. This strategy has proven effective, allowing Diva to leverage her natural speed and agility without unnecessary restraint. Brentzel’s ability to stay loose and trust Diva’s instincts has been crucial in their consistent top performances.
Diva de Talma’s journey from Spain to the United States and her subsequent success under Catherine Brentzel’s guidance underscores the value of Bridl in the equine market. The platform’s ability to facilitate seamless transactions and match high-caliber horses with suitable riders has been instrumental in Diva’s ongoing achievements. As Brentzel and Diva continue to dominate in the competitive arena, their story stands as a testament to the potential unlocked by effective equine matchmaking through Bridl.
